Uyen Dang recently had a chance to participate in an exciting trip to Austin, Texas, with Palm Beach TPA, Palm Tran, South Florida Regional Transportation Authority / Tri-Rail, and other Palm Beach County representatives. During the visit, they explored Austin’s transit plans and mobility initiatives, which were inspiring and insightful.
The trip was made possible thanks to CapMetro’s hospitality, including Dottie Watkins, Cheyenne Krause, and Nina Loehr, and the many speakers who shared their knowledge and expertise. The group saw firsthand how Austin prioritized active transportation, such as bike and scooter infrastructure, bus rapid transit, and light rail, to create a safe, efficient, and connected transportation system.
One of the most important lessons from the trip was the importance of partnerships and collaborations to create a successful transportation system. CapMetro has worked with different organizations and businesses to make mobility more comprehensive and integrated, and this approach inspired DDEC and her colleagues. They were grateful for the opportunity to learn from Austin’s example and look forward to working with their partners to advance mobility efforts back home.
Overall, Uyen Dang’s journey to Austin was an exciting and inspiring experience. The Palm Beach TPA and its partners appreciated the opportunity to learn about Austin’s transit plans and look forward to continuing to share best practices and collaborate to create a more connected and sustainable future.
