BOCA RATON, FL (March 14, 2024) – Boca Raton City Council Member Yvette Drucker has been named the inaugural Florida Bicycle Month PBC Champion by FloridaBicycleMonth.com in recognition of her tireless work to improve bicycle infrastructure, policies, and advocacy efforts throughout Palm Beach County.
Drucker has been a vocal proponent for expanding bike lanes, trails, and amenities to make Palm Beach County more bicycle-friendly. An advocate for bicycle lanes, she spearheaded the adoption of the Boca Raton Complete Streets and Vision Zero policies.
“Promoting safe and convenient bicycling isn’t just good for our health and the environment, it’s an economic driver that attracts businesses, residents, and visitors,” said Drucker. “I’m honored to receive this recognition and will continue pushing for smart policies and investments that get more people on bikes.”
On the policy front, Drucker successfully advocated for reducing speed limits on residential streets, implementing bicycle parking requirements for new developments, and launching community education campaigns around bicycle safety.
Her advocacy efforts extend beyond Boca Raton as well. Drucker is an active member of the Palm Beach Transportation Planning Agency’s Bicycle/Trailways Plan Advisory Committee, providing input on the countywide bicycle mobility plan.
The Florida Bicycle Month PBC Champion award, launched this year by FloridaBicycleMonth.com, honors an individual who demonstrates exceptional leadership in making their community more bike-friendly through infrastructure improvements, progressive policies, education, and inspiration of the public.
