Halloween Safety Tips

Boo! It’s Halloween – the spookiest night of the year when ghouls and goblins roam the streets in search of tricks and treats. As you gear up for a night of thrills and chills, don’t let safety take a frightful turn. While it’s super important to have fun on All Hallows Eve, staying safe should be the number one priority for you and yours!

Halloween 2023

Picture this: you and your kids spent hours perfecting your costume, from the wig to the face paint to the elaborate accessories. You’re ready to show it off as you go door to door or hit up a Halloween party. But it’s dark outside, and visibility is low.

Did you know that more than half the crashes in Palm Beach County occur in the afternoon? The days are getting shorter, and it’s getting darker sooner.

Here are my top tips for avoiding any ghostly accidents and having a howling good – and safe! – time:

  • Stick to sidewalks and cross only at corners – no willy nilly crossing, ghosts, and goblins!
  • Wear bright, reflective clothing or tape so drivers can see you. I know it may mess with your wicked costume vibe, but better seen than unseen!
  • Travel in packs – there’s safety in numbers, especially with parental supervision for younger trick-or-treaters. And speaking of supervision…
  • Have a safe meetup point for kids, parents, or guardians when it’s time to head home.
  • Don’t wander off alone into the darkness!

So, enjoy a night of frightful fun, but be aware of your surroundings. Follow these tips so you, your friends and family have a ghoulishly great and accident-free Halloween!
